How to talk to girls at parties

August 4, 2011 § Leave a comment

Apparently, we’re not supposed to praise our girls solely on looks.

But Lena chose to wear a dress yesterday for the first time ever and I could not stop myself from just saying You look beautiful! in about a hundred different ways.

The funny thing was, when we got to school and Lena saw herself in the reflection of the door she said to herself, “I look beautiful.” And I couldn’t decide whether that was a good secure-young-woman talk or vain-look-obsessed-pre-tween talk.

Daughters. Is any one else scared to death of raising daughters?
